Casting experiments were carried out to produce gray cast irons with compositions in the range (wt.%): Fe-3.2C-wCu-xMo-yMn-zSi, where w = 0.78-1.79, x = 0.11-1.17, y = 0.68-2.34 and z = 1.41-2.32. These key elements were varied systematically during sand casting into 30-mm diameter bars to assess th

✦ Synopsis
The microstructure and creep behaviour of as-cast gamma titanium aluminide based alloys with nominal composition of Ti-48Al, Ti-48Al-2Cr and Ti-48Al-4Cr (at.%) were investigated. Constant load tensile creep tests were performed at temperature and stress of 800 • C and 150 MPa, respectively. Creep characteristics such as steady-state creep rate, time to 1% creep deformation, creep deformed microstructures and creep fracture was analysed. The effect of Cr addition on creep strength were analysed with respect to solid solution strengthening by Cr in ␥ phase, formation of phase and comparison with the base binary Ti-48Al alloy.

A novel AZ91 Ce containing magnesium alloy characterized by excellent corrosion resistance is fabricated by adding rare earth Ce (cerium) in the form of a Mg-Ce master alloy. The metallographic investigation shows that Ce added to AZ91 can obviously decrease the size of b-Mg 17 Al 12 and forms Al 11
## Abstract Effects of Sn and Ca additions on microstructure, mechanical properties, and corrosion resistance of the as‐cast Mg‐6Zn‐2Al‐based alloy were investigated by SEM, XRD, tensile tests, electrochemical measurements, etc. The higher the Sn content, the higher the yield strength of the Mg‐6Zn
