✦ Synopsis

The title compound, C 18 H 16 Cl 4 N 2 O 2 , was synthesized by the reaction of 1-(3,5-dichloro-2-hydroxyphenyl)propan-1-one with hydrazine hydrate. The molecule has a centre of symmetry at the mid-point of the N-N bond. The crystal structure is stabilized by intramolecular O-HÁ Á ÁN and intermolecular C-HÁ Á ÁCl hydrogen bonds.
