✦ Synopsis

This year Mathematische Nachrichten celebrates its sixtieth birthday. It was founded by Erhard Schmidt in 1948. From the beginning it covered a broad spectrum, publishing mathematical manuscripts in number theory and algebra, geometry and topology, analysis and applications, and last, but not least, articles on theoretical aspects of stochastics.

Celebrating its birthday, Mathematische Nachrichten will change its outfit. The changes concern the cover pages and the table of contents.

Erhard Schmidt passed away on 6 December 1959, at the age of 83.
