✦ Synopsis

In 2008 we celebrated the centenary of this journal which was established in 1908. To mark the occasion we published a special issue, "Paradigm shift in Limnology and Marine Biology" (Vol 93, 2008, 4-5), with contributions from leading scientists. This special issue was a great success and here we take the opportunity to thank all the authors and others involved for their excellent contributions.
