This several-volume Special Issue is dedicated to some of the papers presented at the 7th International Conference on Chemical Kinetics (ICCK), held July 10-14, 2011, at MIT. The 240 registered participants in the conference from across the whole range of chemical kinetics research and from more than a dozen countries made this a very stimulating meeting. The conference featured 107 oral presentations and 129 poster presentations; for a full listing of the abstracts, including some of the posters and presentation slides, see http://web.mit.edu/icck/. There were three poster sessions; the corresponding best poster prizes were won by Amit Sharma, Gryn'ova Ganna, and Michael Salazar.
