✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Seizures associated with deglutition are rare, and previously reported cases of so‐called eating epilepsy have not identified specific electrophysiological or anatomical foci. We evaluated a 14‐year‐old with a deep hemispheric astrocytoma in whom focal sezures were consistently triggered by eating. Electroencephalograms were consistent with a deeply located seizure focus. Eating epilepsy should be grouped with reflex epilepsies that may originate with the diencephalon.

Loss of heterozygosity for chromosome 22 (LOH 22) occurs in gliomas of all malignancy grades. Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) patients are at increased risk of developing a glioma. However, the NF2 gene in 22q12.2 is not involved in glioma tumorigenesis. To detect additional regions on chromosome 22

## Abstract The pathophysiological mechanisms underlying binge eating disorder (BED) are poorly understood. There is evidence that abnormalities in brain serotonin (5HT) play an important role in binge eating behavior, therefore genes involved in 5HT transmission, such as the 5HT transporter (5HTT)
