The mononuclear Schiff base compound C 16 H 19 NOSSn or [(CH 3 ) 3 Sn(SC 6 H 4 -4-N C(H)C 6 H 4 -OH-2)] features a slightly distorted C 3 S tetrahedral geometry for Sn. The mean planes of the two benzene rings make a dihedral angle of 41.8 (2) , indicating nonplanarity of the molecule.

The title compound, C 27 H 24 ClN 3 O 6 , a probable new herbicide, was synthesized by the reaction of 4,6-dimethoxy-2-(methylsulfonyl)pyrimidine and methyl 4-[2-chloro-4-(2-hydroxybenzylamino)phenoxy]benzoate in tetrahydrofuran. -Interactions occur between neighbouring benzene rings.
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C 17 H 13 ClFNO 4 , contains two independent molecules. The dihedral angles between the pyridine and benzene rings are 83.3 (2) and 69.7 (1) in the two molecules. In the crystal structure, intermolecular C-HÁ Á ÁN and C-HÁ Á ÁF hydrogen bonds link the molec
