Abstract
A method, based on mean life times (τ) of T → S emission, is proposed for the determination of stability constants of two successive mononuclear complexes and is applied to the boric acid‐benzoylacetone AB et AB~2~ phosphorescent complexes in glassy (77 K) ether‐concentrated sulfuric acid media. Results show that this method ‐ if not limited by very near τ values of the complexes – is precise and applicable even to cases where, at high ligand concentrations, filter effects intervene. The use of τ values by this procedure offers, over colorimetric and fluorometric methods, enhanced possibilities to determine the type of complexes formed and their stability.
