✦ Synopsis


Following OUT previous studies on poly(viny1 chloride) the im1uenc-e of the existen= of head-t&4 defects on the vi-Srationzl properties and on the vibrariod spectra of syndiotactic planar zig-zag holy (vinyl chloride) has been studied. The dynarnid aspects and the spectroscopic consequenrzs of the existen-of such _ q kind of defects in an otherwise structurtiy regular polymer chain are discussed and some comments are made on the we of frequency correlations from model compounds for the interpretation of the infrared and Raman spectra of polymers. The dependency of a few characteristic fre quencies on chain length is discussed.
