Abstract

A new compact microstripline‐fed square slot antenna with embedded crossed strips is proposed for dual‐band wireless local area network (WLAN) applications. Connected to the two upper inner corners of the slotted ground, the crossed strips can extend the path of the current distributed on the ground plane, thus effectively lowering the first resonant band of the antenna. The ratio of the center frequencies of the first two resonant bands can be tuned within a range of 1.8–2.6 by adjusting the angle between the crossed strips and the length of the parts of the crossed strips below the intersection point. An antenna prototype suitable for 2.45/5.25‐GHz WLAN bands was successfully designed and fabricated for verification. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract A dipole antenna with folded branch lines with dimensions of 45.16 × 9 × 0.6 mm^3^ is proposed. The folded branch lines are used for the wireless local area network dual band and phase reversal operations of the antenna. The experimental results indicate that the achieved voltage standin
