Abstract

A dipole antenna with folded branch lines with dimensions of 45.16 × 9 × 0.6 mm^3^ is proposed. The folded branch lines are used for the wireless local area network dual band and phase reversal operations of the antenna. The experimental results indicate that the achieved voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) 2:1 impedance bandwidths were 313 MHz (2.29–2.603 GHz) and 371 MHz (5.639–6.01 GHz). The measured maximum gains in each operation band were 2.96 and 4.47 dBi, respectively. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract A new compact microstripline‐fed square slot antenna with embedded crossed strips is proposed for dual‐band wireless local area network (WLAN) applications. Connected to the two upper inner corners of the slotted ground, the crossed strips can extend the path of the current distributed
