Abstract
By placing a rectangular spiral conducting strip on the top, bottom, and two side surfaces of a rectangular plastic chip of dimensions 5 × 10 × 16 mm^3^, a novel plastic chip antenna capable of GSM/DCS dual‐band operations in mobile phones is presented. The plastic chip antenna has the attractive feature of surface mountable and generates a lower mode for GSM (890–960 MHz) operation and an upper mode for DCS (1710–1880 MHz) operation. Good antenna performances are also observed. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 33: 330–332, 2002; Published online in Wiley InterScience (www.interscience.wiley.com). ## Abstract A novel dual‐band monopole antenna, created by loading a meandered wire to an inverted‐L wire monopole, is proposed. The antenna is suitable for applications in GSM/DCS dual‐band mobile phones. Both the inverted‐L wire and the meandered wire operate as quarter‐wavelength structures, and
## Abstract This paper presents a novel planar monopole, printed on both sides of a dielectric substrate, which can be concealed within the housing of a folder‐type mobile phone as an internal antenna. The proposed internal planar monopole antenna occupies a small area of 10 × 40 mm^2^, and is capa
## Abstract A novel internal mobile phone antenna comprising a planar inverted‐F antenna (PIFA) and a low‐profile planar monopole, which are designed, respectively, for covering the DCS/PCS and GSM bands, is proposed in this paper. The PIFA and the planar monopole together occupy a compact volume o
