β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
In order to obtain accurate radiation characteristics of an antenna, it is required to reduce unbalanced current on the surface of the feeding cable. A miniaturized balun of stacked coaxial cavities is presented to show high input impedances at two separate bands. An equivalent circuit with transmission lines, and inductive and capacitive elements is employed to characterize the circuit behavior of the dualβband balun. In particular, the method to design a dualβband balun, with arbitrary ratio of the upper resonant frequency to the lower resonant frequency, is presented to facilitate the design process. Both numerical values and experimental results are presented to illustrate the validity of the design method. Β© 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
