✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A dual‐band 1:3 series power divider that provides equal power splits to all three output ports is presented. To achieve dual‐band working, the divider employs, instead of conventional transmission lines of one wavelength, the composite right/left‐handed transmission lines (CRLH TLs) yielding electrical length of 0 and −2π at 1.14 and 2.47 GHz, respectively. Dual‐frequency transformers in two sections are added at the output ports to provide dual‐band impedance matching. Two pairs of isolation resistors are used to isolate the three output ports from each other, and their values are determined by solving the equivalent network model of the divider. The isolation between any of the two output ports is measured to be larger than 20 dB at both frequencies, which is of great use in power combination, and the dual‐band divider maintains a relatively compact size. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
