A new facile method---aminolysis of calix[4]arene esters to obtain lower rim double-l,2-amide-bridged calix[4]arenes is described. We also report fl~e single crystal structure of compound 3 which forms a long chain supramolecule in the solid state via intermolecular hydrogen bonding.

## Abstract The complex stability constants (__K__~S~) and thermodynamic parameters (Ξ__G__Β°, Ξ__H__Β°, and __T__Ξ__S__Β°) for 1:1 intermolecular complexation of waterβsoluble calix[4]arene tetrasulfonate (**CAS**) and thiacalix[4]arene tetrasulfonate (**TCAS**) with pyridinium guest ions **1β10** ha
A novel fluorescent chemosensor 1 with two anthraceneisoxazolymethyl groups at the lower rim of calix[4]arene has been synthesized, which revealed a dual emission (monomer and excimer) when excited at 375 nm. This chemosensor displayed a selective fluorescence quenching only with Cu 2+ ion over all
