Stickstoff-Iod-Verbindungen sind häufig über N-I-N-I-Ketten vom Donor-Acceptor-Typ assoziiert. Beispiele sind die Iodstickstoffderivate NI 3 ´NH 3 [1] und NI 3 ´Pyridin, [2] die polymere Ketten bilden, und das in der Gasphase monomere Iodazid, [3, 4] das im festen Zustand über die a-N-Atome der Azidgruppen mit den Iodatomen Zickzack-Ketten bildet. [3] Der die Assoziation verursachende hypervalente Charakter der Iodatome in diesen Verbindungen wird besonders bei den ionischen Derivaten [I 2 N 3 ] [SbF 6 ] À , [5] 6] und den Halogenidkomplexen von N-Iodsuccinimid [PPh 4 ] -
