✦ Synopsis

Genomic alterations in renal cell carcinoma were investigated by D N A fingerprinting using the simple repetitive oligonucleotide probe (CAC),. Nine of ten tumors showed somatic changes in the fingerprint pattern compared with constitutional DNA. The most consistent changes were deletions and/or decrease in intensity of a band. When using two or three samples from different parts within the tumor, up to three different cell clones could be detected. These results indicate that D N A fingerprinting analysis can be a useful technique for the study of genomic alterations and tumor heterogeneity in renal cell carcinoma. Genes

The sonographic appearance of 37 renal cell carcinomas was reviewed with particular emphasis on the relationship between the echo pattern of tumor and tumor size. Small carcinomas tended to be solid and hypoechoic; seven lesions less than 5 cm in the largest dimension were either hypo- or isoechoic

In several countries, increased incidence of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the tongue in young adults has been suspected during the last decades. Some reports indicate a lower survival rate for young patients compared to older patients. In other reports, there has not been any considerable differ
