β¦ Synopsis
Polymerization experiments with ethylene carried out in the presence of deuterium revealed their usefulness for the discrimination between polymer growth on trivalent and tetravalent titanium sites1-3). Only polymer chains growing on Ti(1V) sites were found t o participate in a n exchange reaction involving the P-hydrogen of the growing chain, and as a consequence, t o become labeled b y CHD groups. Analysis of the polymer for its CHD group content, IR absorption a t 659 cm-l, therefore, provides a simple means for the determination of the relative amounts of polymer derived from Ti(II1) and Ti(1V) sites, respectively3).

## Abstract Summary: The stoppedβflow polymerization of propylene catalyzed by a ZieglerβNatta catalyst in the presence of internal and external electron donors was carried out. The influence of the electron donors on the active sites of the catalyst was investigated using a multiple active site mo
