✦ Synopsis

The problem of designing an optimum distributed parameter system is considered. Fundamental concepts pertaining to the solution of optimum controls for distributed parameter systems by finite element methods are devised. It is demonstrated that methods can readily be applied to solve problems involving nonlinear Neumann boundary conditions.
