Abstract
General dispersion relations are derived for the components of the permeability tensor and the refractive indices of uniaxial ferrimagnetic crystals making use of symmetry properties. The zeros of the polynomials in the dispersion relations can be interpreted as frequencies of special magnons and magnonβpolaritons. Some of these frequencies correspond to longitudinal magnons in the limit of large wave vectors.

## Abstract The dispersion relations for magnons in NiF~2~ are calculated using the recently available values of the exchange constants [1] and the selection rules for two magnon electric and magnetic dipole absorption are deduced. The dispersion curves are found to exhibit the symmetry predicted b
