Abstract

General dispersion relations are derived for the components of the permeability tensor and the refractive indices of uniaxial ferrimagnetic crystals making use of symmetry properties. The zeros of the polynomials in the dispersion relations can be interpreted as frequencies of special magnons and magnon‐polaritons. Some of these frequencies correspond to longitudinal magnons in the limit of large wave vectors.
