We report a detailed characterization of the properties of a chirped fiber Bragg grating with respect to the amount of applied chirp. The results demonstrate the reflection and dispersion dependencies associated with any linearly chirped grating. The dispersion of the device tested could be continuo

has been developed. Measurements were conducted at 470 and 900 MHz to conform to the frequencies used in industry. With the addition of a sleeve balun, measurement results show little difference with and without the hand touching the measuring cable at both frequencies. This shows that there is little stray current left, and the cable no longer disturbs the measured impedance of the antenna assembly. As a result, such measured impedance is most accurate, and can be used to match electronic circuits such as low-noise amplifiers.
It may be profitable to point out again that the antenna impedance measured is that of the antenna assembly in the operating condition of the portable radio. Unlike the traditional method, it includes the monopole, finite ground plane Ž . of the PCB unconnected, but operating printed circuit board , as well as the operating human nearby.
