The predictions of a recent theory of creep deformation [l] have been compared with previously published data on a number of non-metallic materials, viz. ice, uranium dioxide, magnesia. alumina and lithium fluoride. The agreement in all cases was satisfactory, predictive errors being less than a factor of -2. The results show that creep deformation in such materials can be described by the concepts of recovery creep. R&sum&--On compare les previsions dune thiorie rt5cente du fluage [l] avec des don&es antirieures de la littirature concemant un certain nombre de matiriaux non mitalliques tels que la glace, le dioxyde d'uranium, la magnisie, l'alumine et le fluorure de lithium. L'accord est satisfaisant dans tous les cas, les erreurs darts les previsions &ant inferieures a un facteur -2. On montre que la deformation au fluage dans ces materiaux peut Ctre d&rite par un fluage sous restauration. Zusammenfassung-Die Voraussagen einer neuen Theorie zur Verformung durch Kriechen [l] werden mit friiher veriiffentlichten Daten einer Anzahl von nichtmetallischen Materialien verglichen. z.B. Eis. Urandioxid, Magnesiumoxid, Aluminiumoxid und Lithiumtluorid. Die Ubereinstimmung war mit Fehlern kleiner als einem Faktor von -2 zufriedenstellend. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dal3 die Verformung durch Kriechen in solchen Matetialien mit den Konzepten des Erholungsktiechens beschrieben werden kann.
