Embrlttlement In the Thermal Power Statlon Rotor Turns. The findings of the analysis are reported for copper turns of a rotor. A discussion is given to the reasons of embrittlement of these copper turns around the holes for gaseous cooling. Local concentrations are irrvestigated for hydrogen, oxygen, sulfur, phosphorus and iron in the embrilement areas. The observed intergranular failure of copper is found to resuk from the formation of brittle chemical.com pounds in the polluted hydrogen environment of a thermal power station.
