โฆ Synopsis
A~tract--The paper attempts to quantify some of the general attributes of the strain averaging process near a crack tip. The discrete averaging effect of a strain gage is considered in the assessment of the errors due to placement of the gage, gage length, gage width and number of filaments. Graphs are presented to show the effects of the aforesaid variables.
