✦ Synopsis

The title compound, [Sn(CH~3~)~2~(C~7~HF~4~O~2~)~2~(C~12~H~8~N~2~)], was synthesized by the reaction of dimethyltin(IV) dichloride and disodium 2,3,4,5-tetrafluorobenzoate in the presence of 1,10-phenanthroline. In the complex, the Sn^IV^ ion is coordinated by three O atoms of two tetrafluorobenzoate ligands, two N atoms of a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two methyl groups in a distorted pentagonal–bipyramidal coordination. The axial positions are occupied by the methyl groups. In the crystal structure, C—H...F and C—H...O hydrogen bonds link the molecules into cyclic centrosymmetric dimers.
