The centrosymmetric title compound, [Na(H 2 O) 3 ] 2 -(C 22 H 12 O 6 )Á4H 2 O, was prepared by slow evaporation of an aqueous solution of sodium dibenzoylterephthalate. The uncoordinated water molecules are connected by intermolecular O-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds.

## Abstract Durch Oxydation von [p, p′‐Dimethyl‐dibenzoyl]‐methan (II) und [p, p′‐Dimethoxy‐dibenzoyl]‐methan (III) mit Perbenzoesäure wurden das Ditoluylcarbinol V und das Dianisoylcarbinol VI dargestellt und ihre Eigenschaften mit dem früher beschriebenen Dibenzoylcarbinol verglichen.
