Abstract

A general, green and efficient method for the synthesis of __transโ€__diiodoalkenes in CO~2~ (sc) has been developed. Transโ€diiodoalkenes were obtained stereospecifically in quantitative yields via diiodination of both electronโ€rich and electronโ€deficient alkynes in the presence of KI, Ce(SO~4~)~2~ and water in supercritical carbon dioxide [CO~2~(sc)] at 40 ยฐC.

## Abstract The catalytic hydrocarboxylation of linear alkenes to carboxylic acids using supercritical carbon dioxide as a solvent was studied. High selectivities in acids have been obtained. The best results were achieved when adding a perfluorinated surfactant to the reaction mixture (93โ€‰% conver
