## Abstract PbO–Nb~2~O~5~–P~2~O~5~ glasses containing different concentrations of V~2~O~5~ ranging from 0 to 1.0 mol% were prepared. A number of studies, viz. differential thermal analysis, infrared, optical absorption, Raman and ESR spectra and dielectric properties (dielectric constant __ϵ__′, lo
Glasses in the system xPbO Á (100Àx)P 2 O 5 (x=25-60 mol%) have been investigated using IR spectroscopy and by means of density and electrical-resistivity measurements. The infrared spectra revealed that for PbOo50 mol% PbO enters the structure as a network modifier forming non-bridging oxygen ions.
