โœฆ Synopsis

The static dielectric constant of CC14, (CH3)sCOH and their mixtures has been measured in the liquid region between 0 and 50ยฐC. Applying the Onsager-Kirkwood-Frohlich theory and extrapolating to infinite dilution, we found I .74*0.04 debye for the permanent dipole moment of the (CH&COH molecule. At intermediate concentrations there is clear tendency to the formation of complexes of alcohol molecules with their dipoles antiparallel. At high concentrations complexes with a parallel dipolar alignment predominate.
