β¦ Synopsis
The static dielectric constant of Cch, CH3CC13 and their mixtures has been measured in the liquid region between -20 and f20"C. Applying the Onsager-Kirkwood theory and extrapolating to infinite dilution we found 1.73 f 0.03 debye for the permanent dipole moment of the CHsCC13 molecule. A weak tendency for parallel alignment of the dipolar molecules was observed for concentrated mixtures in CHsCCb.
