Abstract

The syntheses of 4‐methyl‐, 4‐ethyl‐, 4‐isopropyl‐and 4‐t‐butylquinuclidine are described. The key step in the synthesis of 4‐t‐butylquinuclidine involves a modified Koch‐Haaf reaction leading from a δ‐amino‐tert. alcohol to an ester of the homologous acid.
