## Abstract The resolution of synthetic racemic dihydro‐sphingosine is described. The physical properties of the laevo‐rotatory 2‐amino‐1,3‐dihydroxy‐octadecane ([α]~D~^27^ = −14,1° in chloroform; m. p. 109°) are in agreement with those of natural dihydro‐sphingosine isolated by __Seydel__.
