## Abstract The absolute configuration of natural lysergic acid was determined as (5 __R__:8 __R__) by ozonisation of 6‐methyl‐8‐methylene‐7‐keto‐ergolene and subsequent oxidation with performic acid to D‐N‐methyl‐aspartic acid which was identified in the form of its di‐n‐propyl ester.

## Abstract The new reagent 2‐methoxy‐1,3‐dithiolane and cyclic ortho‐thioesters can be used in a new reaction of the __Friedel‐Crafts__ type to introduce the corresponding aldehydic or ketonic thioacetal function directly into substrates containing an indole nucleus with free 2‐ or 3‐position.
