✦ Synopsis
RbNb 4 Cl 11 was obtained by solid state reaction of Nb powder, NbCl 5 and RbCl at 575 °C. The structure was examined by powder and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. RbNb 4 Cl 11 crystallizes with the space group Pmma (No. 51), Z ϭ 2 , a ϭ 1621.1(1) pm, b ϭ 690.22(4) pm, c ϭ 657.93(3) pm, R 1 ϭ 0.0257 and wR 2 ϭ 0.0470, being isotypic with CsNb 4 Cl 11 . The structure contains edge bridging and face sharing [NbCl 6 ] octahedra forming the motif of

## Abstract The syntheses of 4‐methyl‐, 4‐ethyl‐, 4‐isopropyl‐and 4‐__t__‐butylquinuclidine are described. The key step in the synthesis of 4‐__t__‐butylquinuclidine involves a modified __Koch__‐__Haaf__ reaction leading from a δ‐amino‐tert. alcohol to an ester of the homologous acid.
