Inhaltsu È bersicht. Die Einkristall-Ro È ntgenstrukturanalyse von La 2 Li 1/2 Au 1/2 O 4 ergibt, daû in dieser Verbindung Li I und Au III geordnet auf den Cu II -Pla È tzen des Nd 2 CuO 4 -oder T'-Typs (Raumgruppe Ammm; a = 5.768 A Ê , b = 5.762 A Ê , c = 12.466 A Ê ; c/a(b) = 2.165) vorliegen, mit planquadratischen AuO 4 -Baugruppen (a(Au±O) = 2.013(3) A Ê ). Die entspre-chende Cu III -Verbindung nimmt hingegen die geordnete K 2 NiF 4 -oder T-Struktur mit stark gedehnten CuO 6 -Polyedern an, obwohl beide Kationen die gleiche Low-Spin-d 8 -Elektronenkonfiguration besitzen. Die elektronischen und die strukturgeometrischen Ursachen werden diskutiert. The Crystal and the Electronic Structure of La 2 Li 1/2 Au 1/2 O 4 Abstract. The single crystal X-ray investigation of the compound La 2 Li 1/2 Au III 1/2 O 4 yields a T'-type structure (Nd 2 CuO 4 ) with an ordered distribution of Li I and Au III on the sites with square-planar coordination (space group Ammm; a = 5.768 A Ê , b = 5.762 A Ê , c = 12.466 A Ê ; c/a(b) = 2.165; a(Au±O) = 2.013(3) A Ê ). Though Cu III possesses the same low-spin d 8 -configuration as Au III , La 2 Li 1/2 Cu 1/2 O 4 adopts the ordered T-structure with strongly elongated CuO 6 octahedra. The electronic and structural causes of the different behaviour are discussed.
