The structure of [(H 2 O) 7 CeCl 2 Ce(H 2 O) 7 ]Cl 4 , or [Ce 2 Cl 2 -(H 2 O) 14 ]Cl 4 , has been redetermined at 120 K and re®ned in space group P1 (No. 2) with a centrosymmetric cation. Re®nements in space groups P1 and P1 (No. 1) are discussed.
