The paper deals with steam turbine diagnostics. A general diagnostic model has been developed from a cybernetic model of a turbine. A vibrodiagnostic model is described, which makes it possible to determine malfunction-symptom relations. An example is given of the practical application of this model

## Abstract A case study is presented about the failure of a stainless steel blade reinforcing band in a steam turbine. The inspection results and analysis of samples of material are discussed. Being pitting corrosion and cracks the main defects found, a study of chemical composition and heat treat
