Abstract

Local concentrations are measured at the outlet of different configurations of Sulzer SMV static mixers placed in a tube. Laser Induced Fluorescence is the non intrusive technique used to measure mean and RMS concentrations. The two fluids mixed are miscible and the flow regime is turbulent. The influence of the number of elements, their position and the ratio between the velocities of the two compounds on the mixing is studied. The results show that these parameters are important for the quality of mixing. The velocity ratio influences the radial mixing, while the mixing length depends on the number and position of the elements.

The laser-induced fluorescence spectrum of 9.9'-bianthryl in a free Jet was recorded between 355 and ,375 nm. A characteristic banded structure with 11-16 cm-' spacing was observed in both the O-O and vibronic transtttons and was assigned to a progression due to the torsional motion of anthracene mo

\(\beta\)-Galactosidase can be assayed by monitoring the generation of the fluorescent products, fluoresceinmono- \(\beta\)-D-galactopyranoside and fluorescein, when the fluorogenic substrate fluorescein-di- \(\beta\)-D-galactopyranoside is used. We have used capillary electrophoresis with ultrasens
