β¦ Synopsis
This paper deals with the criteria to determine the irreversibility lines in Bi-2212 Ag sheathed wires through low frequency AC magnetic measurements and DC resistive measurements. In AC measurements the two components of wide band susceptibility versus temperature are measured at fixed DC field (in the range 0 to 8 T) and AC field amplitude (ranging from 0.6 to 40 G) with careful attention to the onset of the apparent transition. The region in the field-temperature (B-T) plane with Jc> 0 is determined applying the critical state model. The frequency and the AC field dependence of the irreversibility temperature are discussed in relation to thermally activated flux creep, flux flow and the effective pinning potential. The comparison with the results of DC resistive measurements gives further information about the relation between the irreversibility line and the transport properties of the wires.
