✦ Synopsis


The magnitude of the stress in thin oxide lilms on Cu and Fe has been determined using a sensitive stressometer and measuring the relaxation of stress during electrometric reduction of the oxide. The method has the advantage that both the stress and thickness of oxide can be measured simultaneously.

The magnitude of stress has been evaluated as CuaO, 1.6 x 10' Kg/cm* for Finns up to 450 A, FePOs, 2.7 x 1W Kg/cm8 for films up to 350 A.

La methode presente l'avantage de mesurer simultanement la contra&e et l'epaisseur de l'oxyde.

1,6 x 10s Kg/cm* pour des films de Cu,O ayant jusqu'a 450 A, 2,7 x 108 Kg/cm* pour des films de FqOs ayant jusqu'a 350 A.

Zusam.menfas~-Die G&se der inneren Spamnmgen in dtinnen Oxydschichten auf Kupfer und Eiin wurde mittels eines empfindlichen Stressometers gemessen und der Spannungsabbau w&rend, der elektrolytischen coulometrischen Red&ion des Oxyds verfolgt. Die Methode hat den Vorteil, das sowohl die imreren Spannungen als such die Dicke der Oxydschicht gleichzeitig gemessen werden k&men. Die G&se der inneren Spannungen wurde bei Cu,O zu 1,6 x lo" Kg/cm* fiir Schichten bis zu 450 A und ftlr FeldO, zu 2,7 x lo" Kg/cm* ftlr Schichten bis zu 350 A ermittelt.
