β¦ Synopsis
The electrical conductivity of polyacetylene, prepared as a free-standing film, changes drastically when treated with aqueous solutions of nitrate in the presence of sulphuric acid (5.7 M). Linear calibration plots are obtained for 2-40 X lo-' M nitrate. Common non-oxidizing ions do not interfere.
