✦ Synopsis
Glutarimide cyclohexanone @-acetaldehyde Scheme I1
Neither method can distinguish between cycloheximide and its dehydration product, anhydrocycloheximide (Scheme I), an a,p-unsaturated ketone (3). The first method is not capable of differentiating among imides, one of which could be glutarimide 8-acetaldehyde, a dealdolization product (3, 4), as per Scheme 11.
