✦ Synopsis
AbStlWt A method for the determmatlon of clenbuterol 111 bovme urme IS described,, which mvolves clean-up and concentration of the sample by nnmunoaffnuty chromatography, followed by nucrofitre plate enzyme unmunoassay of the extract Both the chromatographlc procedure and the assay use ovme antirum raised agamst clenbuterol Enzyme-labelled clenbuterol was prepared by coqlugatlon of a clenbuterol metabobte [4-ammo-3,5-d~chloroa-(2-hydroxy-1,1-~ethyl)ethylammo methylbenzyl alcohol] Hnth alkalme phasphatase usmg a dmzomtion procedure The procedure provided good recovery and lmeanty of response, and an acceptable lmnt of determmation of 10 pg ml-' The coefficient of vmation of the assay ranged from 28% at 20 pg ml-', to 4 5% at 0 5 ng ml-' The procedure proved sufficiently robust to enable heavdy plgmented samples to be analysed wrthout undue non-specfic effects
