## Abstract Monoclonal antibodies were used to probe the cell surface of organ‐selected metastatic variant cells. Previously we defined a liver metastasis‐associated antigen (LMAA) by means of the reaction of a monoclonal antibody with a liver metastasis selected tumour variant cell line, MDCC‐AL2.

The gene encoding the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) under the control of cauliflower mosaic virus 35S-promoter was constructed and expressed in transgenic potato plants. The HBsAg expression were measured by ELISA kit containing monoclonal antibodies. The amount of HBsAg in roots was found 5-1
