✦ Synopsis

Abstract

In this article, a novel omnidirectional semicircular disk antenna is investigated both numerically and experimentally. Two prototypes of different dimensions are fabricated and measured, resulting in a best impedance bandwidth ratio of more than 80:1. The antenna is considerably promising for future ultrawide‐band applications. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, we propose a frequency-notched ultrawideband (UWB) slot antenna. The proposed antenna can cover the entire UWB band and the IEEE 802.11a frequency band can be notched out by inserting a hat-shaped slot into the antenna. The path loss ͉S 21 ͉ and group delay are measured and discussed.

## Abstract In this paper, we propose a small, lightweight, and low‐cost ultra‐wideband (UWB) antenna that exhibits a notch characteristic in the 5‐GHz WLAN band (5.15–5.825 GHz) using a planar half‐circle shape patch, a two‐step matching stub, a coplanar waveguide (CPW)‐type feed, and a hat‐shaped
