Abstract

The optimization of Fresnel zone plates using a genetic algorithm and a the bodyโ€ofโ€revolution, finiteโ€difference timeโ€domain simulator is studied. This technique is applied to zone plates for use in a freeโ€space, focusedโ€beam system to measure the electrical properties of materials. The results are compared with a traditionally designed zone plate and a doubly hyperbolic lens. ยฉ 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract This paper presents the application of a genetic algorithm (GA) to the design and optimization of a nonplanar dipole array in light of its application at a cellโ€site antenna for mobile communication. Cellโ€site antennas demand widely different radiation patterns depending upon the geogra
