Abstract
This paper presents the application of a genetic algorithm (GA) to the design and optimization of a nonplanar dipole array in light of its application at a cellโsite antenna for mobile communication. Cellโsite antennas demand widely different radiation patterns depending upon the geographical location, terrain, and interference conditions of the cell site. The theoretical analysis for the radiation characteristics of the array is developed first, and subsequently, the GA is applied for obtaining the optimized parameters of the array to obtain the desired pattern as needed in different application areas of the cell site.โยฉ 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
