## Abstract A method to synthesize the parameters of a folded waveguide traveling‐wave tube (FWTWT) is derived. For the device designed using this method, cold characteristics such as phase velocity and interaction impedance of virtual TM wave, as well as the growth rate, show reasonable agreement
