β¦ Synopsis
Neutral radicals are observed at 77 K following radiolysis of cycloheptatriene and cyclohexane adsorbed on ZSM-5 zeolites. The mechanism of radical formation is assigned to proton transfer from the sorbate radical cations to the zeolite lattice. In the case of cycloheptatriene, the ratio C,H;/C,H,+' increases with the zeolite Al content. Cycloheptatriene adsorbs to at least two types of sites; the more basic sites increase in number as the Al content increases, are lower in energy and are populated first. * Work performed under the auspices of the Office of Basic Energy Sciences, Division of Chemical Science, US-DOE under contract number W-31-109-ENG-38.

The radical cations ofcis-and transdecalin have been studied in different synthetic zeolite matrices by EPR spectroscopy. The radical cations were produced by y-radiolysis at 77 K. The tirst experimental observation of both the electronic states (2Al : a(4H)=50 G and \*A$ a(4H)=29 G) of the cis-deca
Photoinduced electron-transfer oxygenation of 9,lO-dihydroanthracene was carried out with 2,4,6triphenylpyrylium tetrafluoroborate (TPP) and 9,lO-dicyanoanthracene (DCA) as sensitizers. The time course of the oxygenation products was studied, and the results showed that anthrone was formed as a prim
