A laser excitation spectrum of the (0, 0) and (1, 1) bands of the CaF A 2 ⌸-X 2 ⌺ ϩ system was recorded. The present set of molecular constants for both A 2 ⌸ and B 2 ⌺ ϩ states represents a vast improvement in precision over previously reported values because of the larger number of line position m

✦ Synopsis
High resolution laser excitation spectra of the 2-1, 3-2 and 4-3 bands of the A 2 P X 2 R þ system of 88 Sr 79 Br and 88 Sr 81 Br have been recorded. Observed perturbations in the v A ¼ 3 and 4 levels of the A 2 P 1=2 sub-state are confirmed to be caused by level crossings with the v B ¼ 0 and 1 levels of the B 2 R þ state. A least squares fit of all known electronic data of both the
3 level crossings, as well as the second order 2 P $ 2 R þ interactions, responsible for K-doubling in the 2 P state and ''spin-rotation'' splitting in the 2 R þ state. The latter effect was characterized using off-diagonal matrix elements containing the electronic parameters a AB and b AB , and thus reliable deperturbed molecular constants for the low-lying vibrational levels in the A and B states have been obtained. An unobserved level crossing is predicted to occur between levels of e parity of v B ¼ 2 and v A ¼ 5. The deperturbed equilibrium bond lengths for the A 2 P and B 2 R þ states of SrBr were determined to be 2.71314(9) and 2.71054(2)
A A, respectively.
